When both flags are held, the flag carriers will receive 50% increased damage done to them after approximately 10 minutes and 100% increased damage after approximately 15 minutes.
This boys and girls, I am told, is suppose to reduce turtles and long flag stalemates.
I have talked with both Alliance and Horde players in both the 19 and 29 brackets, what we are seeing is actually MORE turtles.
In my first game after the 2.4 implementation of this new buff, I asked one of my friends to go help get the flag back. He told me “It is too dangerous to leave your flag carrier alone now.”
Well that sucks popsicles.
Pre-2.4, as a flag carrier I wouldn’t mind a healer with me. If there was a low level hunter with Track Humanoids I would maybe grab them too. I am not one for surrounding myself with defenders. I can handle myself quite well. And a pack of people give my position away.
What we are seeing is more people defending the flag carrier. You will now have the frustration of enemies there to pick up the dropped flag. Making you have to now work on a new flag carrier. If you have a good team this could go on quite a while.
But maybe my “suppose to” is wrong. Maybe it is just to make a more dynamic game. Making people pick up dropped flags and such. Not to reduce turtles.
*shrug*
Time will tell.
It always amazes me how much work my Raid Leader (RL) (and I am sure any raid leader) puts into these events. He tells stories at the same time keeps the raid on time and honors when the end of raid time approaches.
Through mistaken body pulls, tanks dieing, loss of CCers, miss marks, disconnects, and anything else that could go wrong he keeps his cool. He gives every class their marching orders and answers all the questions as a result.
Not to mention that he has this soothing voice that I was told before going on vent could be used for two things 1) radio or 2) narrate porn. The RL voice combined with the hand full of guys from Australia on Vent … this gal is quite happy to just listen.
In a Gruul’s run we actually wiped on Gruul twice. Since they had Gruul’s Lair on farm before I joined guild it was quite odd for me to experience. This was a while back before we were to eat glass in Mag’s Lair and it didn’t bode well for that adventure if we couldn’t get Gruul down. (It didn’t btw. We didn’t get past the second click. Training clickers is what continued to hold us back.)
[RL] Are you putting your Imp up with the Tanks?
*breaks out in sweat* The RL just whispered me!
*looks at the group I am in” I didn’t realize I was in the group with all the tanks and melee. I should have known to do that.
[Me] Nope. I didn’t realize. I will do that this time.
The RL announces that some changes are made and one being my Imp up with the tanks to get that health. He let everyone know that he didn’t tell Hydra, so don’t all whisper her with threatening remarks. Which I then received a few whispers threatening me with repair bills and the like.
Next attempt of Gruul, Naltog was firmly in place in the middle of the room giving extra life to tanks and melee. Gruul was down.
/cuddles Naltog
I avoided Isle of Quel'Danas ALL day yesterday.
I tried desperately to NOT go. I occupied myself with the new fishing and gathering quests.
[G] Anyone up for the new 5-man?
*crickets*
[G] Just need DPS and Tank. Any takers?
[Tank] I can tank.
*crickets*
[Mage] I do DPS.
*whew* Dodged that one.
Why?
Because all day I heard…
“Are you getting disconnected?”
“Is anyone else lagging badly?”
“I just ganked Horde!”
Okay. Well the last bit sounded like fun. As for the technical difficulties those were making me worried. So very late at night Husband and friend wanted to go check it out. So with bleary eyed tiredness I tagged along.
I will describe for you my experience on the Isle of Quel'Danas. (Can also be described as “Why I am NOT an early adopter of ANYTHING.”)
Arrived at my old friend Gryth Thurden in Ironforge…
[Gryth] Didn’t expect to see you going to that new fangled elf land.
[Me] Looks like the quiet Forge is getting a lot of traffic.
[Gryth] You don’t have to tell me. *chuckles* I have know you since you were a wee one. I warn you… there are people on the Isle. Lots of PEOPLE. And I know how you hate people.
[Me] Well I seem to be going against my better judgment.
Off I went to the new Isle.
My first thoughts?
It looks a lot like the Belfland. The last time I was in Belfland I was killing them.
After landing I immediately greet
those I was sent to meet. Hoping it would end there. But no luck there, more quests to pick up. There were people everywhere. *shiver*
I went around converting the Erratic Sentrys to help around town.
[Friend] I am getting attacked by a Hunter and Rogue. They are attacking a fellow raider!
This is how it works. Someone is PvP and someone mistakenly becomes PvP also. Then others join in to help. That starts the gank fest. After a dead hunter then dead friend … I luckily have yet to experience the pleasure of the graveyard.
So I started searching for the Missing Magistrix. I don’t know why… but I rode straight.
Right though the Dawnblade Blood Knights…
As I am being shot I make a line straight for the nearest instance door. You know… to drop agro.
Need to be in a Raid Group.
Switch to raid group and dive head first into the instance.
You have discovered the Sunwell Plateau.
Ummmm… I don’t think I should be in here by myself.
Let alone confronted by a very big robot thing. So I back out.
Than nothing.
No Isle.
No elf land.
No Horde killing.
Just nothing.
I was STUCK somewhere between Isle of Quel'Danas and Sunwell Plateau.
No more Hydra.

Pray to the Blizzard-fix-it-before-morning deities.
We did it!
We had no time to spare with 2.4 coming out the next day. Those who saw that the PTR was closed kept quiet. There was no added pressure to the raid. But we all knew in the back of our minds that Blizzard was nerfing the Mag’s fight and if we wanted to claim his head before then it had to be NOW.
Finally, we had no new clickers on the cubes. Everyone had tried this at least twice or more with us.
On our fourth try of the night he went down!
A bunch of stuff dropped that didn’t concern me. But the Karaborian Talisman as an off-hand did. I haz Mag’s loot!
For this first kill it was decided by the officers and fully supported by the raid to allow our raid leader have Magtheridon's Head.
I realized that most all members were emotional.
I was shaking, no buttons could be pressed.
No more killing could be done.
I was numb.
This is the first time I have ever worked with a 25-man raid and downed a boss for the guilds FIRST time.
It was all it could be.
After summoning other guild members to us in Hellfire, in true RP style we walked to deliver the head to the Force Commander.
Through a sudden silence on vent the RL read the quest completion.
“This defeat is not only a blow to Illidan. The Legion too reels... A pit lord commander has been defeated. The siege of Hellfire Citadel now holds no purpose for the Burning Legion. All of their efforts will undoubtedly be turned upon the Black Temple.
Redemption comes for Illidan... and soon. “
I started to tear up.
In our triumph we got our first glimpse of Mag’s head on a stick.
(Oh. And don’t mind the Horde having the towers. We dealt with that post haste after all the celebrating… kind of like dessert.)
It was such a joy to share this with these individuals. Those of us that listened and worked hard were rewarded. It takes team work to coordinate the Mag’s fight and we had it.
Our head Destro lock put together a video. I finally did cry.
Happy birthday sister of mine. Enjoy your day. Love you and sorry I had to kill you the other day.
Well maybe only a little sorry. =P
By the grace of Ratter… I found this site with RPG Motivational Posters. While browsing I came across this…Convention guy.
I met him!
I beg of you NEVER be this guy. He wore the same cloths for all four days of the convention and didn’t smell nice by the fourth day. Heck if I know if he smelled okay the first day. Never felt inclined to get near him.
He is definitely one of the reasons that they changed policy of letting those that dressed up to the Comic-Con in for free.
A part of me is saying “Gee wiz Kat. Don’t you think you are being kind of mean to say that?”
I DON’T CARE.
Icky Icky Icky.
“You need your spell hit at 202”
That is what everyone preaches…wowwiki, the Raid Leader, DPS Officer, Class Leader, other casters, even the troll under the bridge.
You will always have a 1% chance to miss. So any spell hit beyond 99% is a wasted stat.

At revered with the Scryers I picked up the Scryer's Bloodgem. The increase in spell hit by 32 is a huge jump. Then I stayed at 155 for a long time. But my spell hit rating is moving up...soooo sloooooly. My last gear upgrade moved me from 176 to 177. Not an encouraging upgrade.
Killing the Congealed Void Horror in Netherstorm drops a quest to get the Starkiller's Bauble which gives you 26 spell hit increase. If you are not Scryer, not Revered with Scryer yet, or just need spell hit it is an easy trinket to get. The Bauble put me at Spell Hit Rating of 203.
The Skull bosses are calculated as level 73 to the players. So yes you need your Spell Hit Rating to be 202.
BUT…
There are class specific ways to increase your spell hit using talent points. Warlocks have Suppression. It is an Affliction talent on the first tier. Each point in Suppression increases your spell hit chance by 2%.
For a player at Level 70 in PvE killing a level 73 boss:

4 |

The down side is it only affects your Affliction spells. You can have one point in Suppression with a spell hit rating of 177 and be maxed out for your Affliction spells.
But…
The Shadow Bolt spam between putting up your DoTs?
Taking into account that one point in Suppression you will have a 97% chance of hitting with your Destruction spells. You will be losing 2% potential DPS from your Shadow Bolts.
To meet the Spell Hit of 202 I am switching between the Starkiller's Bauble and Oculus of the Hidden Eye. If I am SB spamming a lot, I throw on the extra hit with the bauble.
I am trying to hold out till 2.4 for a talent respec. But I don’t know… if I am hit capped and changing my talents anyway… it may be a good time to try out Destruction tree.
It is official! I am now the best dressed bank toon on my server.
Picked up my boots last Sunday and was ecstatic. Now I have to decide what enchanting materials I will collect. What makes this THE level 19 twink item is that the item level is 40. Which allows for all TBC enchants to be used. My current options are:
[Enchant Boots - Surefooted] +5% Snare/Root Resist, +10 Hit Rating
[Enchant Boots - Cat's Swiftness] +6 Agility, +8% Run Speed increase
[Enchant Boots - Boar's Speed] +9 Stamina, +8% Run Speed increase
I am leaning toward the Cat’s Swiftness only for the Run speed increase. But I really want the root resist. So I am going to run a while without any speed on the boots. If I feel like I am having trouble keeping up will be the deciding factor. I have a feeling that the answer is “Yes, you slow Gnome. Pick up the pace.”
Pfft... you all should get your minds out of the gutter.
It has been quite a while since I have been to Gnomeregan. I have been part of the forces that have tried again and again to clear out the Troggs. But this was to no avail since they keep spawning faster then we can clear them out.
So my Gnomish homeland has been given over.
But on rare occasions I come across a blooming Gnome who has yet to see Gnomeregan and wishes to grab a few things left behind.
So we met up in the great city of Ironforge, where the adolescent Gnome, Dwarf Rogue, and I start this excursion.
[Liz] So you don’t see a lot of full seasoned Dwarf Rogues around.
[Dwarf] *grunt*
As I watched my Dwarf friend prepare for battle, I checked my Soul Shards. It looks like the last batch was taken form the elite trees up in Skettis. Maybe it is a waste to be used on some Troggs. But not like the trees are going to care now.
[Liz] Your weapons look so big on you. You think it is your height?
[Dwarf] *grunt*
I empty my bags of my PvP equipment, extra pots, food and scrolls. I really am not going to need two bags of consumables on this journey. I notice again that I still have a bag full of hats in the bank which I have actually added too… I really need to go through those. My bank space is suffering.
[Liz] So Hydra what do you have in your bags?
[Me] Less now.
Once my Dwarf friend was ready we head out...
[Me] So what are we killing?
[Liz] Oh! I know! I know! Follow me! Follow me! I know where we are going.
We did. Two fully seasoned comrades... walking… out of Ironforge… behind a half-grown Gnome. So I half watch and half listen to her bounding to Gnomer. Then she said something which caught my attention.
[Me] Wait… back up… what did you just say?
I glance at my Dwarf friend holding back laughter with a twinkle in his eye.
[Liz] I just saaaaid. Is it your hair? But I have the same hair style so it couldn’t be that. Maybe it is all the gear. Have you thought of something other then purple? Or maybe it is the tabard color. I think it might wash out your skin color.
[Me] Liz before all that.
[Liz] Oh. I asked you… Why you look so OLD.
DoT rotation…
Shadow Bolt spam…
Cooldown timers…
Addons…
Gear itemization…
Key binding…
Where is this “face rolling keyboard” I hear so much about!
… I am so grateful for the info… lots I knew, but it reaffirmed what I need to be thinking about… have to sort out where to start…but my brain is about to explode …
I am going to go eat some of Husband’s cheesecake.
It has nothing to do with the above (I need some time to adsorbed it all in). Can someone link me where to find a “How to get the “Champion of Naruu” title.”? You would think wowwiki had a step-by-step guide, but if anyone knows where one is I would love the link.
