Hydra and Aurum gave me some time off. Apparently they have been taking the notes I have provided and are training up another Hunter for the 29 bracket. I hear she is a dwarf with a big gun. Good luck to her. Hope she has half the fun I have.
So here I am on the beaches of Booty Bay. Watching the scenery and licking the juices from imported fruit off my fingers. This gets interrupted by the wildlife interaction, like the undead that was trying to convince me that it was a nude beach.
*gnaw slurp chew*
That is Cutie with his new chew toy. We call it Mister Femur.
*grin*
My vacation was interrupted by a shadow.
I glanced up from my latest reading to see Cutie getting chin scratches from a very wide chested shadow. Hovering over me was a Draenei, a 70th season Hunter. Clearly Cutie recognized this hunter from somewhere… There goes my bodyguard.
“Sorry to bother you on such a lovely day. You are Iridium, Hydra and Aurum’s contact on the Horde side.”
I recognize this Hunter too. He is Hydra’s ex-arena partner.
There is no denying my connection since apparently he knows Hydra first hand.
“It is widely known that Aurum has been looking for a specific blade for quite some time.”
Understatement… Aurum has been looking for one actively for eight months two weeks and four days.
“If you hurry you can acquire one.”
I start shaking. Is he for real? This would be a total coup. Cutie responded to my sudden excitement, by stretching nonchalantly.
“All you need to do is let her know where the information originated.”
Without a goodbye I ran to the Horde auction house. There it sat no more…
The 225G for an Assassin’s Blade, this final piece, was a steal.
I shall wrap up the blade and send it as a late birthday gift to Aurum. Aurum will surely consider that Alliance Hunter as her favorite for the rest of the month maybe two.
Cannot wait to hear back on how she likes her new blade. I do hope she tells me how she decides to break it in… I am thinking it will be quite bloody.
*arrives back to beach*
I just earned my level 39 goodies. I hear that Hydra was able to get the Cobra Scale farmed out for my Nethercobra. Once some of the last mats are collected I will be well off to level to the next PvP bracket and some new fun will begin!
Well the trip to Origrimmar was not a complete loss for me.
*stretches in the sun*
I did get to pick up a new book. You think the hint is too subtle?
Welcome friends.
I have a secret that I have been keeping form you for quite a while. You may or may not know that I, Aurum, am an officer in Farstriders Elite. The co-guild leader will be absent for a while, he asked ME to be his replacement. I don’t think I am up to the job, I still have a lot to learn.
FE is a guild with over 150 accounts and over 220 toons. Not all are twinks, we have toons in guild who are friends on other servers that pop in to say “Hi. Good game”.
This is a twink guild of good players. Some have transferred from different servers. They are located across the states and international (we need more on Vent from England and New Zealand IMO.)
We are known mostly for running level 19s, but are growing in the level 29 bracket, and have recruited some strong 39s.
But where do you find information on “How to run a Twink Guild?” You don’t. I have looked up and down and really we are in a unique situation here.
In the Emberstorm battlegroup, there is WKP where it is run like a Stalinistic Regime, DTK view themselves like a family, and JoAT seems to be more like a business. Where does FE stand… by committee of equals.
With the number of players we have, no one person can see everything. So officers will meet and a name will pop up and all the stories come out of the woodwork. My favorite line in a meeting is always “I don’t know why but TwinkName leaves a bad feeling.” Where we all dig up stories about TwinkName and we assess if they are removed from the guild.
Our gear standards are extremely high. This part I am having a really hard time with in general. Your first twink is a hard thing to do. Many settle for second best. It is also not cheep.
The issue is that FE is not “second best” it expects THE BEST.
*checks in bags for PvP gear*
So a 19 hunter with 4/5 Eagle pants and not the 5/5 Eagles will have a ding against them. They have to explain the 5/5s are in bank and are saving up for the Nethercleft Leg Armor. Don’t get the others started if you show up in Blackened Defias Leggings. *shiver*
*pulls out blades and sharpens them for battle*
So I am making mistakes and learning from them.
*charges into mid-field to test her newly sharpen blades*
Maybe if I am not too embarrassed by my mistakes I will share them with you.
*caps one flag*
… maybe.
*returns two flags*
But remember I am just a well geared bank toon.
*wipes the blood off her cheek*
Occasionally I have a full WoW day on the weekend. This Sunday was one of them. I was going to live blog it or something but since I am unsure of what that means I will just go through this day. Leaving out most of the AFK times.

Wake up and do real life stuff.
10:10 Make food with Husband. We talk about WoW raiding and PvP. He tells me definitively “No, I don’t want a raid icon over my head.” Phooey.
11:15 I log into Hydra.
11:25 Look for in guild anyone that has Cat’s Swiftness. Got someone. Still need 5 X Primal Air to get the enchant. I don’t feel like farming the Airs or have the time right now. I buy them out at 28G a piece, which is 143% higher then pre 2.4 cost. Icky but what else am I to do with my gold. Aurum got her enchant from Nuk the Mage.
12:05 I am five minutes late! Server it is 14:05 and the fishing tournament has started. I am at Booty Bay to escort my two charges, two 19 twinks, Wizzy and Diem (Husband). They start fishing and I start killing.
12:23 Nuk the Mage wins the tournament! Congrats! He picks up the Arcanite Fishing Pole. And has a revelation to share with the guild.
12:45 A friend who was escorting two other twinks loots the Cold Basilisk Eye. It is the lowest level trinket you can get without being an Engineer or doing PvP. We are always on the look out for it.
13:15 The Green Tower drops from some random basilisk. Woot! BoE purple drop! This is why you loot all shinnies people! I have never had something like this drop. It must be because you are here with me.
14:00 Fishing tournament ends. Boooo. Nothing! *shrug* Well there is always next week.
14:10 Hop onto the realm Torth horde side to start conversations between FE and WKP for when the 10 vs 10 will start. Calm the Vent people are yelling “There is no Rum in the bank!!” the lushes.
14:20 Aurum mail is full and SOMEWHERE in the pages and pages of mail are stacks of Rumsey Rum Black Label. FE is out and Hydra sent three mail-fulls to Aurum…
Digging through mail. Posting stuff in AH, deleting Marks of Honor, DE low level items, and sending items to other players. Finally find the Rum!! Stick over 40 stacks into the FE guild bank. Pfft. That should shut them up.
I squeezed in a 3v3 against some other FE members. (Welcome Foeh! Last un-FE hold out.)
15:04 I receive a whisper for The Green Tower they want to give me 150G. Click to see who it is. Eek. They are from WM. I ask them what they are doing with it. Going to put it on their Pally. I pull it off from the AH totally knowing I could have gotten the 250G that I put it up for and sell it to them. I know it is a guildie and all that. BUT IT WAS PURPLE!! And I didn’t haggle. That is what they got out of the deal.
15:24 Call from WKP they are delaying the 10 vs 10 even further. At this point I already replaced myself cause I had a raid tonight. FE agrees cause they just want this done.
15:26 I log out to do real life stuff. Mostly to eat, bug Husband, and make sure dishes in sink don’t start to grow anything.
16:10 Log back in on Hydra and start Isle quests. I can get those done in the hour before raid time.
16:40 Get told that WKP never made it. Now there is forum smack talk because they finally got there team together three hours late. This is why I didn’t want to be involved in the first place. Well if I have any more say FE is done with the idea of a 10 vs 10 with WKP. They are on our time now.
17:22 Head back to Shatt, swing by the bank for consumables and repair.
17:30 I update yet again the newest version of Omen. Which since 2.4 has been a necessity before every single raid.
17:33 I’m invited to raid. This is going to be a guild tryouts run. WM has been running new applicants through Kara to see how everyone works together. I am hopping that we can do Shade but I don’t count on it.
We down Moroes, Maiden, Opera (OZ, no my hat didn’t drop. /cry), Curator, Nightbane, Illhoof and Prince. This Illhoof was the first time I lock tanked the Imps. The Lightning Capacitor dropped and I picked up for the shear fun factor.
21:17 Raid end.
21:26 For a while now I was getting called to a different raid…One on Orgrimmar. This was a close friend’s farewell raid. He was leaving for Army boot camp.
They had already started so I hop onto Iridium to meet them there.
Well … you do know what her purpose is? Well I flagged up PvP and it took no time for my first death.
I hoped on Hydra after a while and helped guide the Alliance to Under City. Apparently Iridium’s notes to Hydra are well known. So I guide 40 Alliance into UC to wreck general havoc.
We then went to Duskwood to play with Emeriss.
EVIL CHECK: We summoned a level 27 looking for help with a quest in general chat right into the middle of the raid.
OKAY.
I SUMMONED her.
No hesitation.
It was funny.
00:11 We wipe. As someone said in raid chat “Still more fun then AB.”
Don’t fret. Three of us helped the level 27 with the quest and a blue BoE dropped. I told her to sell it for 15G in AH. “WoW that is a lot of gold!” It will pay for the trouble we cause her. She was really cool about it all. Thought we were nice to help her out. Guess she forgot who summoned her. *grin* See I still get to keep my Alliance card… almost evil.
01:22 We couldn’t have given my good friend a more perfect send off. The long tearful goodbyes started. Lots of chatting… He will be missed.
And then I passed out.
…
BTW… this is atypical. I didn’t do dailies Monday and logged on just at raid time and then logged off after. WoW in moderation people.
Pfft
Who am I kidding.
“Greetings my name is Kat. And I am a WoW addict.”
When both flags are held, the flag carriers will receive 50% increased damage done to them after approximately 10 minutes and 100% increased damage after approximately 15 minutes.
This boys and girls, I am told, is suppose to reduce turtles and long flag stalemates.
I have talked with both Alliance and Horde players in both the 19 and 29 brackets, what we are seeing is actually MORE turtles.
In my first game after the 2.4 implementation of this new buff, I asked one of my friends to go help get the flag back. He told me “It is too dangerous to leave your flag carrier alone now.”
Well that sucks popsicles.
Pre-2.4, as a flag carrier I wouldn’t mind a healer with me. If there was a low level hunter with Track Humanoids I would maybe grab them too. I am not one for surrounding myself with defenders. I can handle myself quite well. And a pack of people give my position away.
What we are seeing is more people defending the flag carrier. You will now have the frustration of enemies there to pick up the dropped flag. Making you have to now work on a new flag carrier. If you have a good team this could go on quite a while.
But maybe my “suppose to” is wrong. Maybe it is just to make a more dynamic game. Making people pick up dropped flags and such. Not to reduce turtles.
*shrug*
Time will tell.
It is official! I am now the best dressed bank toon on my server.
Picked up my boots last Sunday and was ecstatic. Now I have to decide what enchanting materials I will collect. What makes this THE level 19 twink item is that the item level is 40. Which allows for all TBC enchants to be used. My current options are:
[Enchant Boots - Surefooted] +5% Snare/Root Resist, +10 Hit Rating
[Enchant Boots - Cat's Swiftness] +6 Agility, +8% Run Speed increase
[Enchant Boots - Boar's Speed] +9 Stamina, +8% Run Speed increase
I am leaning toward the Cat’s Swiftness only for the Run speed increase. But I really want the root resist. So I am going to run a while without any speed on the boots. If I feel like I am having trouble keeping up will be the deciding factor. I have a feeling that the answer is “Yes, you slow Gnome. Pick up the pace.”
Pfft... you all should get your minds out of the gutter.
Because of my RL avatars fuzzy head… we haven’t told you about the last two weeks and THEN forgot what went on prior to that…
So looking through screenshots BOY did a lot of stuff happen that I have not talked to you about.
There was the WSG game where our “team mates” wanted to farm Horde for “honor” which is not tolerated by anyone in our guild. So the outfits come out… or just pure naked toons.
Then there are our Horde friends who were out numbered.
With us dancing it was a team of three Alliance
against about six Horde. For the last cap we had a Horde escort. I haven’t
laughed so hard in a WSG in ages… my sides hurt after. Battlegroup forums CAN
be a love fest… here is the post for this
great game. I collected the pictures for your enjoyment.
Then there were the games where we would pick someone randomly and the goal would be for them to have the most deaths. Doesn’t happen often but if you have upset a friend on either Horde or Alliance you get put on the top of this list. Another candidate would be if you had "pwn" or "twink" in your name.
Another game I have heard played is betting on who on Alliance side will say “Let’s farm for Honor!” These people are so typical and most likely will have the most deaths.
*looks around checking if anyone else can hear* Our healers don’t heal them. =P
Alliance has long queue times. Here we are hanging out in Shatt with a Horde friend.
One of our healers just got her fishing hat! Here we are twinking in style.
Again what do twinks do while we wait for a very long WSG to pop? We raid a Horde tower killing all the the level 40 elite guards so we can take a screenshot.
Spreading love in WSG with picnic baskets
One of our best hunters in our bracket is Ulti. Well I actually beat him all my little roguish lonesome in a 2v2.
Here is FE getting ready to raid Crossroads in Booty Bay. Once we crossed there was a flagged level 70 attacking a 63 Night Elf... so we jumped in… got that Pally under 60% health too. Well too many 70s showed up and… whoa… wasn’t it convenient that all our 70s were there too. =P
Remember my goal of picking up my Alliance Battle Standard… it was third on the list. After a week of having my honor points … I was dragged over there to pick it up. So my first goal was to use it randomly and take a picture to share it with you!
Remember Cossroads?? Well I didn’t make it then... Hydra went. I had 9 Coins of Ancestry and needed one more for a festival outfit. Well I just picked up the one in Ratchet. Where is the closest one to me? Crossroads!! Survived the guard didn’t die at all.
Whew… so much fun… just wait for Iridium’s and Hydra’s update!
ZOMG we pawnz u!
Right?
Isn’t that what all the l33t people say?
Well I don’t know how l33t I am. I still consider myself as mediocre rogue. No one will ever convince me otherwise. After this game maybe I shall upgrade myself to above average...
From my understanding Emberstorm battlegroup is typical, Horde dominates in all brackets. To top it off because of low population across all servers, Farstriders and another, the carebear RP servers, tends to skew PvP to the less than competitive side. In forums it is simply put "PvP doesn’t exist on Farstriders."
Tortheldrin is where our battlegroups PvPers reside. It is where the best Horde twink guild resides, We Kill People. I have talked of them before, early in my blogging to just yesterday. They are the best twink guild in our battlegroup and it is always a joy to see them on the other side of the field.
Compared to them we are a party bus to their swat team. We bring dresses and /dance with our Horde friends… They bring the beatings.
FE brings costumes and party favors. WKP brings power and ... oh yea... a BEATING.
We have hard earned what respect we have from We Kill People, most particularly from Epona, their guild leader. He is brutally honest in the forums and tolerates nubs with a big stick. He is eloquent in his insults and has the experience and knowledge to back them up.
Us? Well I am just glad to hang out with friends, socialize, do my banking, and kill a few Horde in-between.
This last game we challenged them AND beat them!
I am still on a high from this game.
Our 5 FE players (2 Rogues, 1 Hunter, and 2 Priests) against 6 WKPs (3 Rogues, 2 Druids, and 1 Lock)...
Did FE have the ...
Most killing blows? Noppers.
Most damage? Noppers.
Most Kills? Noppers.
Most healing? Yes.
More healing to balance how much damage we were taking? Noppers.
Most deaths? Yes!
So what happened? They were purely out played. Squeal!
We didn’t have the damage necessary to beat them in a head on confrontation. It was about getting them off the FC, protecting our healers, communication, knowing our limits, and trust in each other.
We didn’t blow our cooldowns out the gate. We used them at the most opportune time. (Except me who was so intent in the game I COMPLETELY forgot that I had an AGM. So I totally subtract a death from mine and add one to Invisible. =P)
At one point, Bringing-the-sexy-back-Rushie and I kited their ENTIRE team away from our level 11 PuG flag carrier. Our FC even made it to our roof too! That was the most fantastic thing I have ever seen. WKP team being kited by just the two of us! (But our FC didn’t have any idea how to drop it and give it to our Healer. Which is unintuitive I know... but she had over a thousand health to his I-can-be-one-shot health. Then he was. /sigh)
Diem crit healed Rushie while he was screaming “Grab the flag! I am going to die!” Instead he got to cap it.
Ulti was a flag returning beast. Timing his concussion shots like a champ.
Kaiya in the last flag return pulled off a well timed fear on the EFC. Allowing us to finish off the win.
We controlled this game by our teeth and a thin thread. Minor mistakes glaringly showed on the WKP side. We were always in position to take advantage of them, and did. So much so we hear someone was booted from the guild.
I would have thought capping one flag on WKP would be a win. But two? That is outstanding. Then…
We won.
WE won.
WE WON!
I can be humble on the forums ... but this is MY blog... so here it goes...
"WTF! ZOMG I PAWNZ U!"
*bounces around room*
"You got served by a carebear RP guild!"
*points and laughs*
"Look! See my kills for the day? That was your team! Loser!"
*Squeal*
"See those two kills right there? That is you Epona."
*grin*
"Not so bad for a bank toon."
*bounces into the sunset*
A win is a win and if we never win again *shrug* but this win was FE time to shine!
"Just because everything is different doesn't mean anything has changed." ~ Irene Peter
For a very long time now, coming on a year, I have been running with the same group of twinky friends. A bunch of months ago two of the twink guilds merged. I was recruited to the twink guilds before the merge, after the formation of Farstriders Elite, I was again being recruited.
As an officer of Wrathbone I wanted to stay in touch with the members and be constantly available for questions. So I fed twinks from Wrathbone to FE and they are some of the best. But I stayed put. With Hydra changing guilds and no longer an officer, that necessity was removed.
The running joke in FE was that there was a bug in the game. They kept inviting me to guild but it kept saying I was already in a guild. Not understanding they opened a ticket with Blizzard, but never received a response to the open ticket. Well in the tradition of taking forever and a day to respond to an open ticket… I am now a member of Farstriders Elite.
Oh top of suddenly becoming Elite, my first time fishing in ages and what should I get but the Lucky Fishing Hat. There are great friends that have been trying for weeks to get it and on the first outing in months it is mine. I told you I needed to get lucky. This just means it will take another year for me to get the boots.
I have also been a busy girl in WSG. I finally broke the 10 thousand lifetime kill marker. This is but a step to the total honor that I will need for my Battle Standard. I still feel like I have so much to learn yet. At 20 thousand I will see if I feel like I know more than I do now.
This weekend also held one loss. That is right just one. As our premade dwindled to Kara and AFK players we went up against We Kill People. It was like swimming upstream in a torrent of arrows and very sharp swords and daggers. We couldn’t even breathe on their healer. They played really good and focused on one of our best players, and not letting any of us move. I don’t think I have ever been concussed and gouged so much in such a short amount of time.
We have work to do in FE… I don’t know how qualified I am to do it … but with the support of the guild we will make a dent.
In my quest to earn my battle standard, I can be found in WSG. I have my nose less in the AH and more in the field. I am not an exclusive twink, I do both PuG and premades. I have to say that premades are the most fun. The coordination of a year playing together, fitting in others, and knowing what they are going to do before they do it is outstanding.
With the long queue times for the Alliance premades we typically go into 2v2 and 3v3 skirmishes. It is fun not knowing who your teammates are going to be (Twinky friends) and surprised at the makeup (some level 13 that you can one shot). Afterwards everyone apologizes for killing each other.
I just happened to get put in with the leaders of FE. Now this was a team.
All we could hope for was that there was decent competition. Sure enough it was a Horde twink guild premade. I honestly thought that they would put up a better fight. You can tell form the score that they focused on our hunter. There holy spec pallie didn’t get one heal off (because of a well placed kick, thank you).
Some days later we did have a premade going and came up against one of our favorite premades. This was the “Battle of the RP twink guilds!” which is always a fun game. One of our healers had never done a premade, this was his first, and Diem was back form 2 months of off time. We tossed them into the fray.
Just so that we know it wasn’t a fluke.
Oh... somewhere during all this I was chatting with a friend…
[Aed] We all have our problems. I have a patience problem, you have a killing problem, and SLS has a lazy problem.
[Me]…
[Me] Killing problem?
[Aed] hehe
This weekend is WSG weekend. So you know where to find me… me with my killing problem will meet you midfield.
