By the grace of Ratter… I found this site with RPG Motivational Posters. While browsing I came across this…Convention guy.

I met him!

I beg of you NEVER be this guy. He wore the same cloths for all four days of the convention and didn’t smell nice by the fourth day. Heck if I know if he smelled okay the first day. Never felt inclined to get near him.

He is definitely one of the reasons that they changed policy of letting those that dressed up to the Comic-Con in for free.

A part of me is saying “Gee wiz Kat. Don’t you think you are being kind of mean to say that?”

I DON’T CARE.

Even better news, the comic Looking for Group is also out this week. You did preorder your copy at your local comic book store right?

My main supplier Matt had my fix waiting for Husband to pick up. There were 6 copies and we bought 3. They are flying of the shelves!

Yea, I refer to my comic stores by the owner’s name. Go in and tell them that you were told they had 3 copies left and you want them all. Let them know I sent you too. Then when they sell out I can send my Husband in to say “I told you to order more!”

I also finally had the film developed (real film).  My fabulous picture of Ryan Sohmer and Lar DeSouza creators of Looking for Group didn’t come out. I was really excited to have a picture of me wrapping my arms around two Horde. I shall contend with the memory. Just to let you know, they are quite soft and squishy for Horde.

Well. Blizzcon came and went a while ago. Did I care? Not really. They have $15 of my money each month, why would I give them $100 more to give me information I can read on the internet for free?

Me: So when do you think your next trip out to CA will be. /hugs

Sister: Maybe next Blizzcon. /kisses

The next week…

Friend: So I want us to go to the next Blizzcon. We missed this one.

Me: What? Well I looked into it and it is $100 per person! So I didn’t bring it up.

Friend: So. But you get all this stuff.

/sigh

Really people, how geeky can a girl be? Between reading comics, going to Comic-Con International: San Diego, choosing a WoW RP server, and having a Tauren for buying chapstick I don’t think I can hold off hanging the “I am a geek” sign. I think of all the other stuff I haven’t had time to blog about … I am an engineer too (Chemical btw … No one wants to know about me calculating the partial vapor pressure over a mixing tank with surfactants.) Blizzcon?? Can I risk adding one more geeky item? I have tried to embrace my geekdom just haven’t been able to completely.

Forget it

/double sigh

What is one more thing? I changed one of my tags on this blog to “geekdom” to help me embrace this new condition. Baring a catastrophe I maybe going to the next Blizzcon.

So my husband puts in my calendar the below message three weeks before September 1.

2007Sept1_Note

I get the time, bring sunblock, and wear comfortable cloths. No other information. See it was a surprise. I HATE surprises. I don’t use hate lightly. My evil has to be restrained to not beat the surprise out of him. So I ignored it. Stopped asking questions and stopped caring.

One of the top things I want to do is go to a NASCAR Race. That is just what we did. Off to the California Speedway in Fontana to the Busch Series Race. We had club parking because the tickets were from season pass holders. We sat under the boxes right at the start/finish line. The feel of all that power coursing thought the bottom of your feet to the tip of your head. It was faboo. Well honestly orgasmic.

The feel, smell, and sound can never be replicated through the TV. It must be experienced. I have gone to other races before but not NASCAR. I highly recommend you go to your car sport of choice at least once. I wanted to go to a Busch series race more than a Nextel Cup race for many reasons. My primary reasons are less people and shorter race. Below is a picture of Kasey Kahne, Bill Elliott, and Jeff Gordon at final practice.

The 110F+ heat was a battle. Husband did well by freezing water bottles for water throughout the day. A highlight was watching Nextel Cup practice and happy hour. Watching the people and browsing the vendors was fun. I bought myself a shirt and changed into it so I could blend into the crowd.

The race was great. At our seats we could see the entire two mile race track. The cars are so beautiful and shinny under the lights. A scary crash at lap 69 resulted in a red flag and #88-Brad Keselowski having to be air lifted to the hospital. I read that he is okay and even cleared to race this weekend. But Jeff Burton wining was a cherry on top of the event. He was the car to beat all night and was able to keep Busch, Hamlin, and Johnson behind him in the 10 lap shoot out.

Husband asked “Was it a good surprise?” It was good, BUT not as a surprise. I hate surprises. But yes, he did do well.

I have ordered 3 copies to be sent to guildies. (Sorry I could not justify buying every guild member a copy. But I did think about it.) I picked up my copy in person at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con. Ryan and Lar are very nice. They took a picture with me and I will post it once I get it developed.

2007 Comic Con preview night. We had 3 goals:

1) Get our passes

2) Go to Terry Moore’s booth

3) Check this years con shirt.

Got one done and on the way to 2 I see something I didn’t expect. Laurell K. Hamilton had a booth!

Checked out the shirts and the books displayed…

What is the this? Lady signing a rubber ducky with vampire teeth… L…A…U…R…E…L…L….

OMG!! It is her! I am standing next to the woman who has brought to my life Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry.

*inhale exhale*

“Laurell if I purchase a Hardcover you would you signed it?” “Yes.” She said.

Turning to the lady behind the booth, I was informed there were no books, shipping was slow and they didn’t have them yet.

*slow motion starts*

I know Laurell tried to ensure the there was going to be other opportunities. But that is a rooky Comic Con thought. Tears start in the back of my eyes. I stare at my husband as we walk away.

I was stunned. My husband was frantic. He was concerned. He became brilliant!

He tells me “Stay with her. Don’t let her leave. I am running to buy it someplace else they must have it.”

Hope he gives me.

He runs to Bud Planet… those morons don’t have it (I think there was a dumb @ss comment there).

Mile High! “I am looking for a hardcover. Never mind there it is.” “Sir this is a cash only register if you would like to use a credit card”…bla bla.. “I DON”T CARE. Ring me up.”

Through the isles and the entire crowd. There he came with my new book in hand. Ms. Hamilton was kind enough to sign my new second copy of the hardcover.

*slow motion ends*

Onward with the rest of our tasks.

It took me an hour to breath normally again. Didn’t get a picture since my camera decided to break. The last time I was this excited was when I met Neil Gaiman after the Eisner awards over a decade ago. He signed my Good Omen’s hardcopy to me and drew a picture. I was in heaven.
